    Responsibilities

    • Ability to manage and lead client relationships as key point of contact through meetings, conference calls, events and general contact
    • Manages account execution, final copywriting edits and deadlines
    • Oversee development of media relations strategy and pitch calendar
    • Work with the team to develop integrated communications strategy, plans and big thinking for clients in a creative and thoughtful manner
    • Understand and prioritize the objectives of each client; anticipates needs in advance
    • Maintain strong relationships with top tier national lifestyle, fashion and business media
    • Contribute 75 percent of time to media/influencer relations and pitching to maximize client coverage
    • Write client collateral, which includes but is not limited to: press releases, media alerts, photo captions, pitches, bios and fact sheets
    • Utilize media relationships to secure consistent and quality placements on clients’ behalf
    • Entertain media & influencers on a weekly/monthly basis with hosted meals, fitness classes, etc. to ensure we are building new and strengthened existing key relationships – that ultimately convert into coverage
    • Voraciously consume all relevant (and even non-relevant) media, maintaining constant awareness of industry trends, cultural currents, media moments and the competitive landscape

     

    The Senior Media Relations Specialist will be responsible for driving results through strategic planning, creative storytelling and ongoing earned media and influencer relations. This role will be expected to own, build and maintain existing relationships with relevant media, influencers, stylists and entertainment conduits.

     

    This is an exciting growth opportunity for a driven, self-starter with strong media relations skills, a fluency in the social and digital landscape, an understanding of and passion for pop culture/entertainment and excellent communication and organization skills.

     

    This position also requires the flexibility to travel up to 15 percent of the time, as needed.

    Qualifications

    Our Ideal Candidate:

     

    • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, English, marketing or a related field
    • 5-8 years of marketing and communications experience
    • Agency experience preferred in the lifestyle, fashion or consumer goods industries (fashion or retail client experience is a must)
    • Comfort and familiarity in social and online media a must
    • Vested interest in the cultural conversation, including trends, influencers and the media landscape
    • Proven ability to secure consistent, high-quality media coverage with solid media relationships
    • Has experience with both paid and earned influencer programs and brand ambassador campaigns
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Experience managing at least 2-3 team members (interns count) to complete tasks
    • Understanding of execution for events and activations
    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
    • Positive, solution-oriented thinking
    • Proficiency using Cision/Cisionpoint, TrendKite, news wires, Keynote and MS applications
